Australia - December 7 - December 27, 2014

December 7 through December 27 - Arrived in back in Sydney ending our sightseeing for Australia.  We are going to sit tight until after the holidays and plan out our next leg - NEW ZEALAND.  So no pictures at this time.

We had a great time in Australia but we did not see it all.  We will have to come back to finish up.  Time to move on.  For info on Chapter 3 use the link below.

One final note:  On December 21 my son, Nic, graduated from Ohio State University with Honors in Economics.  I am very proud of him.

Australia - November 29 - December 7, 2014

November 29, 2014 - Left Melbourne today and drove about 300 miles west along the "Great Ocean Road".  Truly nice scenery with the ocean and rain forests and lots of rolling green hills.  Stopped in the town of Warrnambool, Victoria.  Very nice little town by the ocean.

Sights along the Great Ocean Road.

Lighthouse along the way.

November 30, 2014 - Travelled along the Great Ocean Road and took in the following scenery.

December 1 - 4, 2014 - Made it to Adelaide, South Australia.  Very clean, friendly and fairly new town that is far larger than we expected.  Took a trip to Kangaroo Island.  This involves getting up very early, driving 100 miles down the peninsula through curvy mountain roads to Cape Jervis to catch a ferry across to the island and then getting on an all day bus tour of the island before returning to the ferry at 8 pm and going across the bay before driving back to Adelaide through mountain roads in the dark.  But a spectacular trip as the photos below should attest to.

That is a seal sunbathing.

More seals on the beach.

A spiny creature called an echidna

Kangaroos in the wild.

This kangaroo has a baby ( called a "joey") in her pouch.

The joey is checking out the view from the pouch.

Hopping with joey as a lookout.

The formation in the distance is called remarkable rocks.

There are seals all over the place, but difficult to spot as they blend in.

Hundreds of seals below.

Another lighthouse.

Sunset at Cape Jervis as we get off the ferry.

December 4- 7, 2014 - Left Adelaide to make our way back to Sydney (over 1,000 miles).  Boring scenery in the outback.  No photos.
